Dear Teacher,
Once again I need to thank you for the donuts at work on Wednesday. You really have no idea how important they were to me. This is one of those stories that could be used in the Random Samplers section of the Ensign.
First, I woke up in a semi normal mood. I did yoga and ate a normal whey shake for breakfast. The only difference in Wednesday is that I took a new herbal supplement (probably a bad idea). On my way to work I began to CRAVE donuts as if I feared that I would never have one again and if I didn't have one soon I would for sure perish from lack of deep fried bread. I figured I just wanted one because I was rebelling against Lent. So I drove past the yummy donuts at the Starbucks in Sunset Beach. Second, when I drove past Great Dane Bakery I used will power to not turn in and pick up donuts with an excuse to bring some to everyone. I thought I had overcome my desire for sprinkles on a round cakey donut by simply driving past all the well known establishments. However, third, I arrived at an intersection and remembered that I could turn right instead of left and drive to the Daily Grind Coffee Shop to pick up a treat and just turn around again to arrive at work. Alas, I chose to turn left instead and deprive myself of driving to get a donut. Fourth, I got into my classroom and craved any donut even stronger and picked up my phone to call Tricia because I knew she could stop and get me a donut when she stopped for her morning muffin. I really wanted that donut and I knew Tricia would help me. Then I remembered that Tricia has stopped getting her fattening muffin and has switched to a breakfast of raisin bran eaten at home, so I didn't call Tricia. Still I wanted a donut but finally accepted that I wouldn't get one that morning. Fifth, I decided I could scavenge through all the faculty lounges to see if someone had the inspired premonition to bring donuts to coworkers. Until I finally eealized that not only was that a stupid time wasting idea, but it was certainly pathetic. Sixth, I entered the first grade classroom for my morning reading group and found out that the class next door was celebrating a 7 year-olds birthday with two dozen donuts! Oh how I wanted to crash that party, even if it was in a classroom I have never entered before.
Finally, lucky number seven! You, as prompted by the spirit, brought a lovely batch of fresh maple, chocolate and sugar donuts to my favorite staff lounge. I am truly grateful for your focused example of following the promptings of the holy ghost (no matter how fattening the promptings are). I for sure know that Jesus knows and loves me!
